On Wednesday, 23rd July, our Year 2 students embarked on an exciting journey as part of their HASS unit, exploring the connections between the past and present.

Students travelled by bus to Cairns Central Train Station, where they boarded the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway. The train ride took them through beautiful landscapes and tunnels before arriving at Freshwater Station. There, students disembarked and enjoyed a relaxing picnic in the park.

This excursion was designed to provide students with an engaging, real-world experience aligned with the Australian Curriculum. It offered valuable insights into the historical significance of the railway and how communities preserve and value their heritage.
