News from the APA - Karina Brady

Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the end of Term 2, I’d like to take a moment to share some important updates and thank you for your continued support and engagement in our school community again this term.
The Learning Dashboard
We’ve had some great questions from families about the new reporting platform The Learning Dashboard (TLD), and we appreciate your curiosity and involvement during our parent information sessions during Week 7.
For those that couldn’t make the sessions, some questions were raised, particularly around the old reporting platform SRS and the rollover of student reporting data to TLD. To ensure we are answering your questions correctly, we took the questions to the Data and Analytics team who are rolling out TLD across the diocese. Please see the responses below.
Q: When viewing a child’s previous SRS results in the My Learning Plan page on TLD, will other subject areas come across or just the four currently showing; English, Mathematics, Religion and Science?
A: Only the four key subject areas will be transferred over to TLD.
Q: Is there any way of having previous comments from SRS come across to TLD in the My Learning Plan?
A: No, at this stage it is only academic marks for the four key subjects that will be available on the My Learning Plan.
Q: Are parents still able to access SRS and print off previous report cards if they have not done so?
A: No, the SRS platform is no longer available.
Q: Can you access SRS data more than two years old? Usually after two years the SRS reports are archived.
A: No, after two years the data is archived.
As part of our school’s record-keeping processes, all previous SRS reports are securely stored in our digital system. Should you require a copy of your child’s past reports, we are more than happy to provide this via email upon request.
In Term 3, families will receive an EdSmart slip inviting expressions of interest for accessing these archived reports. This will help us streamline the process and ensure timely delivery to those who require them.
Cohort Data
One of the key features we’re excited to highlight is the inclusion of cohort data on your child’s report. This means you’ll be able to see how your child is progressing in comparison to the broader year level cohort—which includes all three classes in your child’s year level. This context can help provide a clearer picture of your child’s learning journey and growth.
Please see the visuals below for examples of what the cohort data will look like on TLD. Under each learning area your child receives an academic judgement for, their judgement will be highlighted on the five-point scale.
The five-point scale for Prep-Year 2 uses the language shown below from Well Above to Well below. Whereas the five-point scale for Years 3-6 is A-E.
EALD reports
For families whose children have been in Australia for less than 12 months, your child’s school report will look a little different this semester.
After careful consultation with school leadership and guidance from education consultants at the Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns, we will provide you with a document additional to the TLD report. This document will show the learning your child has completed, based on the learning progressions in the Australian Curriculum.
This approach helps us better reflect your child’s progress and learning journey while they are still settling into a new language and education system.
Just a reminder, TLD reports will go live on Thursday June 26. If you have any problems accessing TLD via the parent portal or the MyCE app, we recommend logging out completely and logging in again before contacting the front office.
Satisfaction Survey
A heartfelt thank you to all families who took the time to complete the recent Satisfaction Survey. Your feedback is incredibly important to us. The results will be shared with the school leadership team shortly and will play a key role in helping us identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement as we plan for the future. We truly value your voice in shaping our school’s direction.
Prep to Year 3 Athletics Day
We’re excited to invite families to join us for our Prep to Year 3 Athletics Days:
Prep and Year 1: Tuesday, June 24
Year 2 and Year 3: Thursday, June 26
These events are a wonderful opportunity to support our young athletes and celebrate their enthusiasm and effort. During the morning tea break, we warmly invite families to enjoy a picnic lunch with their children. The oval areas will be open for families to set up and relax together.
If you have children in other year levels, they are welcome to join you for the picnic during this time, should they wish to do so.
Please note: If your child is ordering tuckshop on these days, they will still be required to collect their lunch and eat in their usual designated areas.
We look forward to seeing many of you there and sharing in the fun and community spirit of the day!
As this is the final newsletter for the term, I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your continued support and commitment to your child’s learning. I wish all students and families a safe, restful, and enjoyable holiday break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for Term 3.
