Enrichment
“If there is no struggle, there is no progress” – Fredrick Douglass
The Enrichment program is about offering students a safe environment to be challenged in their learning and to try new experiences. It has two aspects: classroom support & opportunities for extension through various academic competitions.
The majority of my time is spent working with groups of students to complement and extend work being done in the classroom in the areas of Literacy & Numeracy. In Term 1 this may include developing writing skills across different text types with attention to editing and giving peer feedback, and a focus on solving written word problems in Mathematics.
Students are usually selected across the cohort, based on a combination of results including semester reports, PAT testing and NAPLAN results as well as consultation with the classroom teacher.
This program will commence in Week 3 to allow input from classroom teachers. Parents will be notified by email if their child has been asked to participate. Groups often change each term which allows other students to participate.
I also facilitate a variety of opportunities which are available to any student who shows interest. Details will usually be advertised in the school newsletter.
